California School Technology Survey is open again. The username and passwords are the same as last year. The survey is open until March 14, 2008.

21st Century: Businees meets education on February 13, 2008. The creators of PB Wiki will talk with us about the IT concerns and benefits of onine collaboration. Wiki Wiki Quick Quick workshsop is coming up at Alameda COE (February 13, 2008), Napa COE (March 18, 2008), and Solano COE (April 22, 2008). Data: Data seminar featuring San Jose USD. They will share their experiences using data to move schools out of Program Improvement status. This 3rd installment of the series will focus on using the CTAP IV/RSDSS Benchmark Analyzer. The workshop will occur at Alameda COE on March 14, 2008. The breakfast will be at Contra Costa COE on March 13, 2008.

Cyber safety: Bullying and Cyberbullying workshop will be hosted at CCCOE on March 6, 2008 from 8:30-3:30pm. PBS frontline hosted a special called "Growing Up Online" and can be viewed at: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/kidsonline/

Math Summer institute: CTAP will host a 2-day math institute this summer. The workshops will be held at Solano COE (June 16-17, 2008) and at San Mateo COE (June 23-24, 2008). Flyer: http://www.ctap4.org/pdf/MSMI2008.pdf

Calisphere: First session went amazingly well. 2 sessions are still on the books, but the teams have been chosen. 3 options are still available. 3 hour workshop is open to eveyone, costs $35, and does not include an iPod. The 1 day workshops costs $450, includes an iPod, and offers a delicious lunch. A 3-day summer institute will occur in June, will cost $550.

Technology Funding Alert!:

Hot off the press the newest funding alert was released January 31, 2008 (2 days in the future). Download it at <http://www.ctap4.org/grants/funding_alert.htm> Of special note are HP Technology for Teaching Grant, Google Apps Education Edition.

Grant updates:

K-12 Voucher: Sign up for the CTAP4 Listserv at http://www.ctap4.org/grants/k-12/index.htm.The deadline for applying in the K-12 voucher program is June 30, 2008. There is a six year window, from 2006 to 2012, to expend the vouchers. 62 of 100 eligible have applied for the K-12 voucher. The process for applying is quick.
EETT Formula: 14 districts submitted plans for approval in cycle B. We expect to see approximately 13 plans in cycle C which closes April 4, 2008. If using a plan submitted in cycle C for e-rate approval, be sure to document
EETT Competitive: Federal government issued $267.5 million for the entire country. The state will issue an RFA sometime in February. The application will be due sometime in April of 2008.

Upcoming Events

CUE<http://www.cue.org> The CUE conference will be happening March 6-8 in Palm Springs. CUE will be partnering with the Florida Something to offer a Northern California conference in October.

EB CUE: Cool tools is happening on Februrary 2, 2008. Online registration is closed.

SV CUE: On the same day, SV CUE will be having Bernie Dodge at their conference at Palo Alto High School.
